Transport and stable disinfection advice

To prevent the spread of infection after transporting a horse with known or suspected contagious disease we recommend:

  • The stable and vehicle is decontaminated as soon as possible.
  • Do not use the stable or vehicle for other horses until decontamination has been completed.

EHV-1 consensus building tool

This tool helps vets and owners achieve a consensus on a management plan in the face of an EHV-1 outbreak on a premises.

A consensus on monitoring and testing should be reached between all parties involved.

For successful EHV management, all horses on the property must be assessed as if they are potentially infected animals.
