Zootech - Approval of 3rd Country Listing by the European Commission

News
16 Dec 2020 BEVA

Following approval from the European Commission, Defra have released the following statement on Zootech.

"We are pleased to inform you that the European Commission has accepted our application for third country listing of our breeding bodies under Article 34 of Regulation (EU) 2016/1012.

The list of breeding bodies has been published on the Commission’s website and can be found here. We have written to these breeding bodies to give them the good news and we will be updating our gov.uk website with this information in the next few days.

Third country listing means that our UK breeders can continue to trade with EU breed societies or breeding operations, on the same equivalent terms as they currently have under the Zootech regime, from the end of the transition period on 1 January 2021.

Any breeding bodies not currently listed can be included in further applications for third country listing in due course, subject to them providing certain assurances regarding compliance."

Any queries should be directed to Rachel Davis.
