Vet Sustain is delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Gelder-Robertson as their first Chief Executive Officer. Bringing sustainability expertise from the healthcare, pharmaceutical, food and land use sectors, Laura is set to drive innovation, impact, and growth for Vet Sustain.

Vet Sustain is a non-profit social enterprise championing sustainability in the veterinary professions. The group consists of a team of Directors, volunteers, and working group members, enabling and inspiring action towards six sustainability goals along the themes of Welfare, Wildlife, Wellbeing, Warming, Waste, and Water (the ‘6Ws’).

The group offers a range of tools and training, including their Sustainable Approach to Clinical Veterinary Practice course and a veterinary practice carbon calculator, and partnership opportunities with aligned organisations.

Gelder-Robertson joined the organisation this month, bringing 25 years of business and sustainability experience working with multinational business, the civil service, and research institutions in innovation, systems thinking, and change leadership. Laura has pioneered sustainability solutions and innovations within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, retail, agriculture, land use and light manufacturing sectors. She is also an Assessor at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership.

Vet Sustain’s Chair, Ed Bailey, welcomes Laura to the team. “We are thrilled to appoint Laura at the helm of Vet Sustain. Working with our existing team, her expertise will allow cross-pollination of ideas and solutions from other sectors, strengthening the tools, training and collaborations we build to serve our veterinary community.”

Laura Gelder-Robertson said: “I’m excited about taking on this new role - working with a team of expert veterinary professionals in a sector that uniquely connects humans, animals and nature. I’m particularly keen to show that sustainability is a competitive advantage for businesses in the modern world.”
“I’d welcome any new connections within the veterinary and adjacent sectors, and I look forward to unlocking opportunities for this dynamic, purpose-led organisation.”
