Whether you're stepping back into work after a break or needing that extra boost, the six-month Back in the Saddle programme is all about you! Applications are now open for our second cohort.
Back in the Saddle offers group-style coaching, to support those who are either returning to work or wish to review and reevaluate their career in some way. It has been developed in response to numerous BEVA members reporting periods of feeling a bit lost or adrift as life progresses, particularly following a career break or change in circumstances. The six-month programme is led by a team of individuals who have experienced the challenges of working in equine practice and have all undergone extensive coaching training. It delivers monthly online group sessions for participants to discuss, learn and share knowledge in a workshop style environment from the comfort of your own home!
BEVA Junior Vice President and coach Kate Blakeman reflected on the success of the scheme so far...
"Last Autumn we wrapped up BEVA's first Back in the Saddle coaching cohort. As a coach in this scheme, I am thrilled with the feedback from participants, with 100% of the cohort reporting a positive experience. 71% of participants said that the scheme exceeded their expectations, particularly in terms of content and application. They reported increased confidence in applying practical strategies to veterinary practice, and 86% of participants said they felt more positive about working as an equine vet as a result of their coaching. It was great to read that the majority of our coachees would recommend Back in the Saddle to others, particularly highlighting the value of peer support, networking and the course's impact on both their professional and personal growth. This is a tremendous result for the initiative's first run, and I can't wait to get started with our second cohort!"
Our first session for this year will take place online on Wednesday 4 June and will run on the first Wednesday of every month until November. Applications are now open and will close on Wednesday 21 May. Need further convincing? Kate tells you why you should apply...
