We run a structured rotating internship between ambulatory calls and clinic based work to create a fully rounded knowledge base with excellent clinical skills. Your ambulatory weeks will start with basic calls including vaccinations and blood samples and gradually
progress to a full case load within which you will gain exposure to a range of routine and emergency cases. Our experienced vet team are always on hand to support you either over the phone or to join you at a call if required.
During your clinic based week you will work closely with our team of qualified and student veterinary nurses. You will be encouraged to take the lead in inpatient care whilst being heavily involved in our busy hospital caseload. You will assist with lameness
investigations, gaining confidence in identifying lameness and diagnostic work ups including hands on experience with blocking and imaging. You will also be a key part in medical work ups, managing intensive care patients and assisting with general anaesthesia
and managing post operative patients.
Our interns participate in a 1 in 2 rota for our hospital caseload and are supported by an experienced nurse and a senior veterinary surgeon, however, this is usually relatively quiet as we do not undertake emergency surgeries out of hours.
