BEVA Congress (11-14 September 2024, the ACC in Liverpool) is offering wetlab practicals for the first time this year. The Arthrex Vet Systems Mobile Lab will be hosting hands-on sessions to help practitioners hone their arthroscopy and joint block skills in their state-of-the-art laboratory. Advance booking for these sessions is advised as places are limited.

“Our practical sessions are always highly popular and the wetlab experience takes things to the next level,” said BEVA President Roger Smith.  “We are delighted to partner with Arthrex Vet Systems to bring this exciting opportunity to Congress delegates.

”The ability to practice ultrasound-guided injections at the conference provides the opportunity to hone your skills in ultrasound and enable you to cement to ultrasound-guided injections of tendons and ligaments and joints into your daily practice.

“It is the first time we have worked with an exhibitor this way and we hope it will lead to more opportunities to work with our exhibitors, to create more, exciting interactive initiatives within the exhibition space.”

On the Thursday there will be three wetlab taster sessions at three different stations, giving delegates the chance to roll up their sleeves and sharpen their skills with an ultrasound scanner, arthroscope and arthrobox. Under the principles of US guidance, they will be able to inject tendons and ligaments and perform an arthroscopy of the fetlock joint.

Friday’s sessions will be focused on forelimb joint blocks and arthroscopic demonstrations of the needle locations. Delegates can learn from the experts at three separate stations, covering the use of nanoscope, DIP joint and arthroscopy.

“BEVA has a rich 64-year-old history of supporting Equine veterinary professionals to achieve the highest level of equine health and care,” said Mike Bellinger, National Business Development Manager at Vet Systems. “At Arthrex Vet Systems our overarching principle is ‘helping veterinarians treat their patients better’. Therefore, there is a perfect synergy for us to partner for this inaugural educational event at BEVA congress.”

The normal practical teaching programme will also be running in the Congress exhibition hall. Daily sessions will give vets the opportunity to learn essential hands-on skills and techniques for nerve blocks, wound management and imaging of the head and lower limbs, taught by experts, in a friendly and encouraging environment.

BEVA Congress is designed and produced by equine veterinary professionals for equine veterinary professionals, and this means the event delivers a pertinent and practical programme from a true equine veterinary perspective. 90+ hours of live and on-demand CPD cover almost every aspect of equine medicine, surgery and practice.

This year Congress is celebrating the theme of ‘one medicine’ to showcase the importance of knowledge sharing between human and equine medicine. The opening address will be given by Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell, who will be sharing her thoughts on maximising performance.

The full BEVA Congress programme is now live and super early bird tickets are available until 7 June 2024. Individual super early bird BEVA members prices are £524 for vets and £144 for vet nurses for all three days (with concessionary available for those in their first three years of graduation or earning less than £25,000). Day tickets and practice passes are also available.

Tickets provide access to all lectures, practicals, the exhibition hall, as well as full access to the virtual Congress hub, where delegates will have access to all Congress content for six months after the event.

The Arthrex Vet Systems wet lab and the practical teaching sessions are free of charge but must be pre-booked. Spaces will be available to book from August on a first come basis.
