10 irresistible reasons why you can't miss BEVA Congress

20 Apr 2023 BEVA

With just a month to go before the end of our Super Early Bird deadline for BEVA Congress 2023 tickets, our Council and Congress Committee members are sharing their own reasons why no one should miss out on this legendary event.

BEVA Congress is designed by vets for vets working at the coal face - our programme this year will provide a phenomenal 90 hours of live and on-demand CPD over the three days, covering just about every aspect of equine medicine, surgery and practice. When the lectures are over for the day you can get involved with the legendary BEVA Congress social scene and enjoy the benefits of networking in a friendly and informal environment.

So if that’s not enough to persuade you, here are our Congress Committee members’ standout features from this year programme…

Sarah Freeman on human behaviour: Frustrated by owners who seem to ignore your treatment plans but are happy to follow the ‘back man’ or to spend a fortune on referring?  Sarah will provide valuable insights into understanding and changing client behaviours.

David Rendle on the realities of wonder drugs: Ertugliflozin may sound like the silver bullet for treating EMS/laminitis-prone natives. But is it? David will discuss the research, pinpointing the successes and the potential pitfalls.

Louisa Taylor on feeding recurrent colic cases: We all want to stop the nightmare of repeated conversations, inconclusive tests, feed trials and diary keeping, to identify a cause of recurrent colic and Louisa should deliver some interesting answers.

Philip Ivens, Sarah Smith, Tamzin Furtado on respiratory medicine: A useful recap on BALs, the practicalities of diagnostic possibilities in the field and how we can help owners comply to manage equine asthma, will be discussed by this trio of experts.

Bronwen Williams, Jonathon Withers, Mark Parbhoo and Tim Mair on optimising surgical performance: The stress factor can get to us all and Bronwen, Jonathon, Mark and Tim will provide some revealing insights.

From a broader perspective, BEVA Council is proud that BEVA Congress is the only event in the world where all of this is provided under one roof…

Teaching from all the top speakers in their fields giving presentations and leading practical sessions, which leave you feeling enthused and ready to form your own views and tackle the subjects there and then.

Interactive sessions that explore the opinions and moral mazes that exist within our profession, through live debates and Q&As which fire up the brain, encourage us to question what we do, and fuel innovation within our profession.

Demonstrations and displays in the exhibition hall of the new technologies and pioneering businesses that support our industry and ensure we remain at the forefront of equine veterinary provision, providing the best for our workforce and patients alike.

Networking opportunities amongst colleagues, business partners and clinical support, whether it’s reinforcing existing relationships or forging new ones to help us grow as practices and individuals.

Friends from the days of work experience, college, vet school, internships, residencies, first jobs, last jobs… catching up with old house mates over a glass of something, reminiscing about old practices with previous colleagues at Happy Hour, or having coffee with that person you met on a CPD course last year… there is a chance to see anyone and everyone who may have been part of your life professionally and socially. BEVA Congress has always been and will always be the annual reunion for equine vets around the world!
