BEVA introduces Antibiotic Champion Award

The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) is encouraging members to continue to reduce their use of critically important antibiotics by inviting them to attain the BEVA Antibiotic Champion Award.

LAMENESS EXPERT SUE DYSON REWARDED FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS AND A LEGACY OF RESEARCH

Dr Sue Dyson, expert in equine orthopaedics, has returned from the University of Kentucky having been inducted to their UK Equine Research Hall of Fame. As Head of Department at leading veterinary research charity, the Animal Health Trust (AHT), where she has dedicated almost 35 years to treating hundreds of patients each year, she is honoured for her service and contribution to equine research. Sue collected her award surrounded by her peers, colleagues and previous inductees, who have nominated her for this accolade. 

Herpes Breakout on Herts/Beds Border


Four horses have now been put down in an outbreak of equine herpes virus (EHV). 2 more have shown signs of the disease, and are "undergoing supportive care" in a vet hospital's isolation unit, while another 2 have shown respiratory signs but appear to be recovering. Vets believe the disease is currently contained within one livery yard, on the border of north Hertfordshire and south Bedfordshire.

Defra introduces new deputy chief veterinary officer

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has welcomed its new deputy chief veterinary officer (DVCO) for the UK. 

The 12th International Equine Colic Research Symposium Call for Abstracts

The 12th International Equine Colic Research Symposium will be hosted by AAEP Foundation and will be held in Lexington, Kentucky, USA on July 18-20, 2017 immediately following the AAEP Focus on Colic and Focus on Dentistry meetings, July 16-18, 2017. The deadline for submission of abstracts for the meeting is February 8, 2017 5:00 PM EST. The meeting format and guidelines for abstracts are listed below. Registration for both meetings will be open to all, with full details available at www.AAEP.org in February, 2017.
