Update on Atypical Myopathy Cases

*Please note that this last week, the number of cases of atypical myopathy has increased significantly!*


On the 2nd December 2011,  97 clinical cases compatible with the diagnosis of atypical myopathy have been communicated to Liege University and to the RESPE.  These cases were recorded in Belgium (13 cases), France (27 cases), Germany (14 cases), Great-Britain (30 cases), Switzerland (7 cases), Austria (2 cases), USA (3 cases) and Canada (1 case).

Vets’ and VNs’ views needed by Social Mobility and the Professions Survey

Veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses are being encouraged by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) to take part in a short, online survey about social mobility and the professions.   The survey is part of a broader project on social mobility commissioned and funded by several professional regulators, including the General Medical Council and the Legal Services Board. It seeks views from the members of different professions to help pin down which indicators of social mobility are important.   From this information, a 'social mobility toolkit' will be produced containing up to six measures of social mobility that it would be useful for professional bodies and businesses to gather information against in order to understand the socio-economic make-up of a profession or organisation. It will also offer case studies and guidance on best practice. The toolkit will be free to use, and is expected to be available online early in 2012.
