The Horse Trust, Slade Lane, HP27 0PP
As equine vets we face risks everyday and many of us have been injured by our patients, but these injuries could be avoided with a better understanding of normal behaviour responses to acute stressors.
This course will give you a practical understanding of how learning theory can be employed to develop a safer and less stressful working relationship with horses. As well as gaining a deeper understanding of how horses think, we will explore the science of human behaviour change to understand why clients make the decisions they do, and how to get better compliance with treatment protocols. The aim of the course is to give you the skills and knowledge to get better outcomes with less stress!
Please note that in order to join us on the day you will need to have completed Hold Your Horses – a free-to-member online course, presented by Gemma Pearson, to help equine vets and nurses minimise patient stress. This means that when you join us in-person we can focus on applying your new knowledge to difficult situations. The course consists of 10 sessions which you can work through at your own pace. If you book this course as a non-member, an annual BEVA membership will be set up for you to be able to complete the Hold your Horses CPD prior to the practical day.
