Hartpury Equine Therapy Centre, Hartpury College, GL19 3BE
Fundamentals of Gastroenterology combines online learning and a practical day to ensure you are confident in examining a horse, forming and carrying out a plan for a horse with colic, choke, liver disease, weight loss or diarrhoea.
You will be given access to our online lectures prior to the practical day which will cover choke, colic, hepatopathies and outbreak management.
You will then join us at Hartpury to get fully hands-on. You will practise and perfect techniques commonly used in the diagnosis and management of GI cases. This will include practical rotations on abdominal ultrasound, interpreting lab results for colic, colitis and liver disease, clinical assessments of colic and case-based discussions on worming.
The online learning will be available to access at least two weeks before the practical and available for up to 12 months afterwards.
This course is part of our Fundamentals of Equine Practice series. By working with leading equine practices we’ve developed 10 practical courses that provide the essential skills necessary to thrive in equine practice. See the rest of the series.
