You may already be a pro marketer and have a clear idea about how you are going to exhibit, but if you don't, we recommend careful planning in order to optimise your exhibitor experience. Set clear objectives and targets, decide what your participation is going to achieve and how you will measure your ROI. Allocating an adequate budget and working out important details such as what you want to promote and how you want your business perceived is crucial, as well as for deciding what information you want to collect and how you are going to collect it. You also need to choose the correct mix of stand personnel (confident, approachable, knowledgeable/technical staff, decision-makers, etc). Dressing your stand to pull in the crowd is critical if you want to gain a competitive edge, particularly if you have opted for a shell scheme, where the structure of your stand is identical to many other exhibitors in attendance. Many of your competitors will also be exhibiting, so use this to your advantage and stand out from the competition. An eye-friendly and well-lit stand with well-labelled displays is crucial - don't let visitors have to guess your business.

Pre-Congress - Promote Your Presence - Proactive pre-show marketing is a great way to raise awareness of your attendance at BEVA Congress to both potential and existing customers. Make sure you include your stand number and details about why people should visit your stand in order to create a buzz about your attendance at the event.

During Congress - Entice Delegates to Your Stand - There are 100+ stands at BEVA Congress, so it is important to remind delegates that you are at the event and make sure people know how to find you.

• Run a competition (and include details in the virtual bag)
• Provide high-quality promotional giveaways or product samples
• Sponsor appropriate scientific session/s or a social event/s
• Brand a banner in a prominent position within the conference centre (or Congress App)
• Catering on your stand during the Happy Hours and/or afternoon coffee breaks can draw delegates to your stand. Catering can be arranged via the conference centre.

• Whilst at Congress don’t solely rely on delegates visiting your stand, actively network the event. Face-to-face contact is an effective and personal way to build new and reaffirm existing relationships, and these contacts are likely to be far more receptive to communication following the event
• Book a corporate table at the BEVA social function or at a restaurant to entertain key/potential customers 
• Make your stand as welcoming as possible, we are often surprised to see stand personnel using mobile phones, eating, sitting, having their back to the aisle, working in an untidy stand or simply leaving the stand unattended
