Full Course Programme
There is no doubt that the equine back presents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for all equine practitioners. The anatomy of the back is complex and pain can arise from several structures caused by a variety of problems, which are usually multi-factorial and often interlinked resulting in a range of clinical signs. In this course, the delegates will be guided through the diagnosis and therapy of back problems. The speakers have been chosen for their approachability and practical skills. They will focus on giving highly practical guidance and tips on how to examine, image and treat horses presenting with back pain. We will also give an insight into the objective measurement of back movement and how elite equine athlete’s back movements are measured. The practical sessions will give the opportunity for the delegates to get hands on experience in small group teaching. The course is suitable for anyone who wants to know more about this challenging area and wants to optimise their approach to these cases. The course is offered as a blended session with introductory material provided online followed by lectures and small group teaching during the day. Please read and adhere to the BEVA Biosecurity Instructions for Practical Courses, which can be found here.
