The internship is aimed at early-career veterinary surgeons interested in developing their clinical skills. Two internships will be offered per annum, with 3 interns employed in total starting every 6 months. The hospital provides a diverse caseload to support clinical training, supported by excellent state-of-the-art facilities.
Clinical training will be provided in three core rotations:
1. Internal medicine/critical care.
2. Orthopaedics/imaging.
3. Anaesthesia and surgery.
Each position is offered for 18 months, subject to satisfactory progress. Accommodation is provided in a shared flat on-site, together with a competitive salary.
Positions commence August 2024 and February 2025

About Us
Our long-established practice is on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland. Our premises are purpose-built and set in 8.5 acres surrounded by a rural countryside, with easy access to main transport links.
We are very proud to have accredited hospital status by the RCVS and offer a complete veterinary service, from routine vaccinations to specialist surgery and diagnostic imaging. We also have a clinical association with The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine, giving us access to leading specialists at the vet school on a daily basis. The association has also substantially increased our already 'state-of-the-art' equipment range.
The hospital team is led by our 3 clinical directors who are supported by a team of 5 assistant vets, 3 interns and 10 nurses. We have two in-house surgeons, along with a surgical resident. In addition, we also have a clinical association with The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, meaning we have vets permanently based with us who provide veterinary care in both medicine and sport horse medicine.
The clinical staff are supported by a team of 6 office staff, a lab technician, HR manager and the equine practice director.
The successful candidate will have the backup of our expert hospital teams - diploma holders, certified surgeons, residents, interns - and our dedicated, qualified nursing staff.
